Course Description
Study Skills class is designed to support students with their academic classes as well as develop transition skills.
Recommended Materials
· Paper/Writing Materials as Needed for Notes
· Agenda
“Education Code Section 49011 (a) states: ‘A pupil enrolled in a public school shall not be required to pay a pupil fee for participation in an educational activity.’”
Class Expectations and Grading Policy
1. Students are expected to monitor work/test dates for their other classes by completing their agenda.
2. Students are expected to do assigned work and record what they accomplished through a Daily Work Log.
3. Students are expected to keep track of their grades.
4. Grades are based on the following percentages:
30% - Agenda
30% - Daily Work Log
20%- Classwork
20% - Grade check with parent signature
5. Your final grade will be based on the total points earned at the end of the semester. The scale is as follows:
90% - 100% = A
80% - 89% = B
70% - 79% = C
60% - 69% = D
0% - 59% = F
In Classroom Rules
1. Follow all school rules. This includes district dress code and phone policy.
2. Respect others and everything (i.e. name calling, teasing and damaging personal property is not acceptable).
3. Be on time. You should be in your seat when the second bell rings or you will be marked tardy.
4. Be honest. Cheating of any type will result in a zero on the assignment or test for both parties involved.
5. No eating, drinking (except for water).
Virtual Classroom Rules
1. Students should not share their login information, meeting links, or passwords with others.
2 School and classroom rules apply to the virtual instruction environment.
Consequences
Breaking classroom rules will result in one or more of the following;
-warning
-detention
-phone call home, or a referral to an assistant principal.
The punishment will be determined according to the severity of the infraction and your prior history of behavior in my classroom.
AERIES Parent Portal
Parents and students are encouraged to access AERIES to receive updated grade information.
In an effort to minimize paper waste, syllabus acknowledgement will be submitted electronically. A paper copy of the syllabus will be provided upon request.
